A five-member delegation, led by U.S. Indo-Pacific Command’s Deputy Commander Lieutenant General Joshua M. Rudd, visited Bangladesh from November 6-8.
The high-level visit aimed to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance the capabilities of the armed forces.
During the visit, there was a special focus on promoting mutual cooperation and professional skills between the armed forces of both countries, as well as discussing joint initiatives on humanitarian assistance and disaster management.
General Rudd met with Bangladesh Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman and Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division Lieutenant General S.M. Kamrul Hasan.
The delegation also held discussions with Lieutenant General Mohammad Shaheenul Haque, Commandant of the National Defense College in Mirpur, focusing on opportunities for joint exercises and training to bolster bilateral cooperation.
Additionally, the delegation attended a briefing session organized by the Army Headquarters on humanitarian assistance and disaster management, where they discussed the challenges and capacities for responding to natural disasters in the Indo-Pacific region. The session emphasized initiatives to improve preparedness, enhance response capabilities, and execute rapid recovery operations during crises.
This visit is expected to play a vital role in strengthening the strong bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the United States and in fostering joint efforts to address regional security and humanitarian challenges.
