Police, RAB, and Ansar Uniforms Are Being Changed

The uniforms of the Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and Ansar are set to change, as announced by Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.

This information was disclosed during a press conference held on Monday, January 20, following a meeting of the Law and Order Advisory Committee. The meeting took place in the conference room of the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Secretariat.

Key Decisions

During the meeting, several color options for uniforms, including iron, royal blue, deep khaki, deep blue, and olive, were presented. Based on these, the advisory committee finalized distinct colors for each of the three forces.

  • Police: Uniforms will now be in “Iron” color.
  • RAB: Uniforms will feature an olive (or military green) color.
  • Ansar: Uniforms will adopt a “Golden Wheat” shade.

Gradual Implementation

The Home Affairs Advisor mentioned that the uniform change is a decision that has already been finalized and will be gradually implemented.

“This change won’t happen all at once; it will take place in phases. Alongside the uniform changes, the mentality and mindset of personnel must also evolve,” he added.

He emphasized the need to address corruption, saying, “If corruption is eliminated from the country, many other problems will also be resolved.”

The Selection Process

According to meeting sources, representatives of the Police, RAB, and Ansar, wearing 18 different uniform designs, attended the discussion. From these, specific uniforms were identified and finalized.

Context

The idea of reforming the police force, including changes to their uniforms, gained traction following the fall of the Awami League government. Ultimately, uniforms for the Police, RAB, and Ansar are being updated to reflect these reforms.
