Key suspect arrested on suspicion to assassinate Haitian president

Police in Haiti have demanded the arrest of the “main suspect” in the assassination of President Jovenil Moisi. According to police, the arrested doctor was identified as Christian Emanuel Sanon, 63. This information was given in the report of BBC online.

The arrested person is Christian Emanuel Shannon. He is a doctor by profession. Police believe the 63-year-old doctor is the president’s “main suspected killer”. In early June, Shannon arrived in a private jet for “political purposes.”

Haitian police chief Leon Charles told a news conference that arrested Christian Emanuel Sanon, 63, was on a private jet in early June with the hired security guards in Haiti and that he wanted to take over the presidency.

Leon Charles added that the suspected assassins had been under surveillance since the assassination of President Jovenal. At the end of the mission, one of the assassins first calls Sanon. He communicates with two other people. Police believe the three were the masterminds of the killings. However, the police chief did not reveal the names of the other two except Sanon.

Police had earlier said 28 mercenaries were involved in the killing of Jovenal Moisi. 26 of them are Colombians. The other two are U.S. citizens of Haitian descent. Three members of the group have already been killed in shootings with police. Following this, 17 people were arrested. Eight people were reported to be at large. Police have now arrested one of the masterminds.

Earlier, on July 8, thugs shot and killed Haven’s president, Jovenal Moisi, at his home in the Carrefour region. The First Lady was seriously injured in the shooting. At the time, police said, at least 28 people were involved in the assassination of the president.
