Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, has expressed regret over the suspension of Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram for about six hours.
Earlier, the problem occurred after 10:15 pm on Monday (October 4), Bangladesh time. After that, Facebook and Instagram were activated around 4:15 am on Tuesday.
Zuckerberg wrote on the Facebook wall, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger are now active. I am sorry for today’s unfortunate incident.
“I also know how involved you are with Facebook in communicating with people,” he said.
According to the website monitoring group DownDetector, more than one crore people worldwide have reported problems using Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram.
In a tweet, Facebook said the world has many people and the business community who depend on us: We’re sorry. We’re working hard to launch apps and services and are happy to know they’re back online. Thanks for staying with us.
Instagram tweeted that Instagram is back now but running slowly. Sorry for being late! Thanks for staying with us.
Earlier, Facebook’s chief technology officer Mike Shroffer tweeted a “sincere apology” to the victims.
It is rare for a server to go down for such a long time. The last time such a problem occurred in 2019 was on Facebook and other apps for 14 hours.
