The Romanian government has announced that it will give 2 million doses of coronavirus estrogen as a gift to Bangladesh.
On Friday (October 8) in the capital of Romania, Bucharest, the country’s foreign minister Bogdan Orescu met with the foreign minister AK Abdul Momen. At this time, the Romanian Foreign Minister announced the gift of the vaccine.
Momen expressed his gratitude on behalf of the people of Bangladesh for their unwavering support and cooperation in the liberation war of Bangladesh in the 1971 meeting.
During the Foreign Ministerial meeting between Romania and Bangladesh for the first time, Momen expressed satisfaction over the friendly relations between the two countries and the continued progress on issues of mutual interest. The Foreign Minister of Bangladesh hoped to work more closely in cooperation between the two countries in the coming days.
During the meeting, Momen emphasized expanding trade between the two countries, saying Romanian investors would be able to take advantage of attractive opportunities to invest in 100 special economic zones under construction in Bangladesh and established high-tech parks in joint ownership or 100% own ownership. Momen invited the Romanian Foreign Minister to visit Bangladesh along with a business delegation from that country. Bogdan accepted the invitation.
He hoped for Romania’s support to continue Bangladesh’s GSP facility in the European market. The two Foreign Ministers also discussed the possibility of sending skilled and unskilled human resources from Bangladesh to Romania. They agreed to increase cooperation in the field of education and culture of the two countries.
Mohammad informed the Romanian Foreign Minister about the various steps taken by the Bangladesh government to rehabilitate the forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals. He hoped for practical cooperation from Romania and the international community in repatriating Rohingya to Myanmar. Bogdan appreciated the steps taken by the Bangladesh government in this regard and assured all possible cooperation from Romania.
The Foreign Ministers of the two countries exchanged views on Bangladesh-Romania cooperation in various international and regional forums and discussed important global and regional contemporary issues. At the time, the Romanian Foreign Minister praised Bangladesh’s vital role in international organizations. After the meeting, the two Foreign Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on FOC (Foreign Office Consultation) between the two countries’ Foreign Ministries.
Later Dr. Momen visited the University of Politehnica of Bucharest (UPB), the largest technical university in Eastern Europe. During the meeting with the Rector of UPB, the Foreign Minister discussed various aspects of cooperation between the two countries in education. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on ‘Promotion of the UPB Excellence Scholarship Program’ has been signed between UPB and the Bangladesh Embassy in Romania.

He thanked the UPB rector for announcing four scholarships for Bangladeshi students and hoped that the scholarships would be gradually increased in the coming years. The Foreign Minister invited the Rector of UPB to attend the Peace Conference held in Dhaka next December.
