Anti-corruption campaign will continue: Obaidul Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said the anti-corruption drive would continue. No one will get exemption for corruption.

He told reporters after inaugurating the modernization of the building of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) on Thursday morning.

BRTC Chairman Md. Tajul Islam and other officials were present at the time.

Obaidul Quader said Bangladesh was a world champion in corruption during the last government, today Sheikh Hasina government is working to implement zero tolerance policy to make Bangladesh free from corruption.

Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Quader urged the concerned to work honestly out of patriotism and called for bringing BRTC back to the forefront of reputation at any cost. He called upon the people to do everything possible to make BRTC a public service organization and said that no success would come if corruption could not be stopped.

Instructing BRTC to transform into modern transport and take necessary steps to improve the quality of passenger service, Obaidul Quader said BRTC vehicles need to be modernized and made more visually appealing.

He said that not only the beauty of BRTC offices should be enhanced, but also the quality of passenger service should be ensured.

Obaidul Quader said that in order to ensure transparency and accountability, internal audit should be intensified along with completion of audit activities of each depot including BRTC head office.

Instructing the concerned to ensure proper utilization of the funds allocated for the repair and maintenance work of the vehicles, the Minister for Road Transport and Bridges said that the matter should be strictly monitored so that no one can pick up the entire bill without 100 per cent physical work.
