Journos can lead nation showing dreams of future: Hasan

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud yesterday urged the journalists to take the nation ahead by showing dream of future highlighting the success of the country.

“Plotters are hatching conspiracies in Bangladesh also by taking the opportunity of instability across the world due to Russia-Ukraine war. But a recent report of the World Bank has stated that the poverty in Bangladesh has reduced 0.6 percent in 2021 than 2020 and the poverty now stands at 11.9 percent. And Bangladesh’s economy has turned around by combating the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.

The minister stated these while addressing a discussion and Iftar Mahfil organized by Chattogram Bibhagh Sangbadik Forum (CBSF) at an auditorium of Jatiya Press Club (JPC) here.

Hasan urged the journalists to highlight the success and achievements of the country before the nation so that the people could see the dream of future. “There will be criticisms against the government, but everyone should also focus the scenario of success. Journalists are the conscience of the society and they can open the third eye of the society,” said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.

He said the journalists played a pivotal role in the struggle of the independence, in the Liberation War and in building the nation after of the War.

JPC former president Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman, MP, AL deputy publicity secretary Aminul Islam Amin, senior journalists Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan, JPC president Farida Yeasmin, general secretary Elias Khan, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) president Omar Faruque, Ekattar TV director general Mozammel Babu, Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) president Sohel Haider Chowdhury and general secretary Akther Hossain and Dhaka Reporters Unity general secretary Nurul Islam Hasib, among others, spoke on the occasion.

CBSF president Shahin-ul-Islam presided over the event while secretary general Ayub Bhuiyan conducted it.
