Inaugural train from Cox’s Bazar to Dhaka in 12 hours

Returning from Cox’s Bazar: On Saturday, November 11th, as the sun was setting at 5:04 PM, preparations were underway for the departure of a special train from the iconic Cox’s Bazar Railway Station. The train was headed to Dhaka from Cox’s Bazar for the first time.

At that time, the clock read 5:04 PM.

With a journey of 12 hours, the train covered 469 kilometers and arrived at Dhaka’s Kamalapur Railway Station on Sunday at 5:05 AM, marking its debut as the first daytime train to the capital. Dhaka Railway Station Manager Masud Sarker welcomed the special train at that time.

The train departed from Cox’s Bazar Railway Station towards Dhaka. Passengers were disembarked at Ramu, Eidgah, and Dohazari railway stations. Afterward, at 9:45 PM, the train arrived at Chittagong Railway Station.

The train from Cox’s Bazar to Dhaka has 19 carriages and two engines. Among them, four carriages and one engine are left at Chittagong Station. The journey ends at Dhaka Kamalapur Railway Station at 10:30 PM.

The Korean-coached train has 14 air-conditioned carriages with modern amenities. Seats can be reclined through a switch, and each seat has a fan and light switch. There is also a table-like surface attached to the seat. Separate points are available for charging mobile phones. The doors of the carriages are automatic, and if not closed properly, they alert with a sound.

Earlier, at 12:58 PM on Saturday, after the inauguration of the Cox’s Bazar railway route, the same train carried Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from Dohazari railway station to Cox’s Bazar. Then the train returned to Cox’s Bazar railway station.
