Poet Sharafat Hossain has received the ‘Bengali’ Literature Award. The award was presented at the ‘Bengali’ Literature Festival held at the National Magic Museum on Friday. The main guest of the event, artist Hashem Khan, presented the award.
The event was inaugurated by lyricist Harishankar Jaldas. Professor Dr. Ratan Siddique presided over the event. Guests at the event included Dr. Sarkar Abdul Mannan, literary figure Rafiqur Rashid, and literary figure Jharna Rahman. Expressing congratulations and best wishes to the awardees, artist Hashem Khan said that we need to be more conscious. Those involved in various professions must lead the Bengali language and culture forward through their work.
Sharafat Hossain stated that the award is dedicated to the struggle presented in the beautiful book. This achievement adds extra responsibility. The ‘Bengali’ literature festival, organized for the seventh anniversary of the publication, honored and awarded ten poets and writers in the country for their contributions to literature.
Those honored include children’s literature writer Faridur Reza Sagar, children’s literature writer Amirul Islam, poet Maruful Islam, prose writer Mila Mahfuz, and poet Dukhu Bangal. The ‘Bengali’ Literature Award was also received by poet Sharafat Hossain, storyteller Jannatul Bakeya Keka, prose writer Joyshree Das, researcher J. Ali, and storyteller Shahmub Jubair.
Arif Nazrul, the publisher of ‘Bengali,’ said that this honor and award were given to acknowledge the creative writers. This effort will continue in the future.
