Al-Jazeera Journalist Murdered, Dahduh injured in Israeli attack

In the Israeli bombing attack, a journalist named Sameer Abu Daqqa has been murdered. He was working as a cameraman. Wael Dahdouh, the head of Al Jazeera Arabic’s Gaza bureau, who had lost his wife and children in an Israeli attack in October, has been injured in this incident.

The incident occurred yesterday in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza. At the time of the incident, Dahdouh was covering the news of the Israeli attack from Farhana School in the area. Due to the continuous Israeli bombing, rescuers could not reach Sameer immediately after the incident. As a result, he succumbed to additional bleeding, and Dahdouh, who suffered injuries to his arm, managed to reach Nasir Hospital in the area for treatment.

Eyewitnesses reported that heavy gunfire occurred around Farhana School yesterday. The murder of Sameer Abu Daqqa in the incident has been condemned by the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ). The organization reiterated its demand for the safety of journalists in Gaza in each statement. In a report published by IFJ last week, it was mentioned that 72 journalists have lost their lives in the ongoing war in Gaza.

In a related context, on October 26, the wife, daughter, son, and nephew of journalist Wael Dahdouh were murdered in an Israeli bombing attack on the Neirat Shelter in southern Gaza. At that time, like other Palestinians, Dahdouh’s family also left their homes in Gaza’s northern region, taking refuge in the shelter as directed by the Israeli military.

However, they could not survive the attack. Following the tragedy, Dahdouh, along with his injured son, took shelter with other relatives in the northern region of Gaza. Even after that, they could not escape the attack. Along with his son, Dahdouh was injured in the attack. Despite this tragedy, he quickly resumed his work of collecting news.
