The lowest temperature in Srimangal is 9.7 degrees Celsius

Konkan winter has descended on Srimangal, known as the capital of tea. Since the past few days, public life has come to a standstill due to the cold weather.

In the early morning, the surroundings are covered in smoky darkness due to the fog.

On Tuesday (January 16), Srimangal recorded a minimum temperature of 9.7 degrees Celsius. And the minimum temperature of greater Sylhet is 15.0 degrees Celsius.

Soon after the afternoon, the intensity of winter in Srimangal increases. The poor and working people have suffered the most due to the cold and frosty winds.

Mujibur Rahman, Meteorological Officer of Meteorological Observatory located in Srimangal told Banglanews that the lowest temperature of the country was recorded in Srimangal on Tuesday at 9.7 degrees Celsius. This is the lowest temperature in the country today.

He also said that the temperature here is gradually decreasing now. Rain is likely on 17, 18 and 19 January. Since then the temperature will drop further. Temperatures may drop further below past records this season. A gentle cold current is blowing over Srimangal.

Meanwhile, regular admission of children and elderly people in different hospitals of the district including Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital continues every day due to cold related diseases. The crowd of low and middle income people in hot clothes shops is increasing every day.

Dr. Moulvibazar Civil Surgeon. Jalal Uddin Chowdhury said, COPD patients who come i.e. those who are sick due to smoking or clay stove are more admitted to hospitals at this time. It is also one of the diseases caused by cold. So they have to be more careful at this time.

Necessary treatment is being given in all our upazila hospitals for cold related diseases. He said that many people are returning home after two to three days of treatment.
