Health Minister Zahid Malek has said that the country will start vaccinating against coronavirus again from June 19 with the help of Sinopharm and Pfizer vaccine provided by the World Health Organization as a gift from China.
He said, “Everyone who has completed the registration process will get the vaccine. Medical students have already been vaccinated with Sinopharm as the first dose.”
Bangladesh has already received 1.1 million doses of Sinopharm vaccine from China as a gift and 160,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine under the COVAX project. The Oxford-AstraZeneca 1 million 800 dose vaccine will arrive in the country soon.
The health minister said vaccination activities would be resumed with the number of vaccines available. Corona is growing again in different parts of the country. From now on, everyone should be aware again. Hospital beds are low. If the corona increases, the service will also be disrupted. So, we have to emphasize resistance, we have to control.
The Department of Health says it will give priority to medical, nursing and university students in the field of Pfizer and Sinopharm vaccines. Officials from the health department, which is involved in vaccine management, said there are basically three classes of people who will get the vaccine. Health students will get it first. Apart from this, foreign nationals living in Bangladesh and domestic and foreign workers working in various big projects will also be given this vaccine on priority basis. If left unchecked, those who have not been vaccinated will also be given.
