Another 54 lakh vaccines will arrive by August 15: Health Minister

Health Minister Zahid Malek has said that another 54 lakh vaccines against coronavirus will be available in the country by August 15. He also said, the issue of buying 6 crore vaccines from China by increasing 3 crores to meet the vaccine shortage has been finalized. The matter will be passed in the cabinet meeting on economic procurement soon.

The minister was responding to a question from reporters while leaving the cabinet meeting at the secretariat on Monday afternoon.

Zahid Malek said, another 3 million vaccines bought from Covax and 1 million vaccines bought from China would reach the country by August 15. In addition, China will give another 1 million vaccines as a gift. A total of 54 lakh vaccines will come.

The health minister said, the pace of vaccination activities could be maintained. He also said that another 50 lakh vaccines bought from China will be available this month.

Regarding the allegation that SMS is not coming on mobile phones for coronavirus resistant vaccine even after long registration, Zahid Malek said that the message is given subject to the availability of vaccine. At present, due to low stock of ticks, less messages are being sent. According to vaccines capacity messages will be sent.

Regarding the Sinopharm vaccine from China, the minister said that 60 million dose vaccines have been discussed with China, including the previous 30 million doses. However, the approval of the Purchase Committee (Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement) will be required to bring this vaccine. The matter will be passed in the cabinet meeting on economic procurement soon.

Corona’s mass immunization program has been going on in the country since August 7. More than 3 million people in the country have been vaccinated under this program.
