At least 27 children have been killed in the past three days in ongoing clashes between government forces and the Taliban in Afghanistan.
UNICEF said, in a statement that child abuse was on the rise in the country. In the last three days, 27 children have been killed in Kandahar, Khost and Paktia provinces.
Besides, 136 children were injured. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) says more than 1,000 civilians, including children, have been killed in the conflict in Afghanistan over the past month.
In the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan, many children are fleeing their homes and spending the night under the open sky. UNICEF has called on all parties to ensure the safety of children.
The Taliban has been active in Afghanistan since the withdrawal of US and NATO troops. They have occupied six provincial capitals till Monday. The group has also rejected calls for an international ceasefire.
