The Roadway of Padma Bridge becomes visible

The work of laying the roadway slab of the dream Padma bridge has been completed. As a result, the road was completed in 6.15 km bridge. A total of 2,917 roadway slabs were laid on the roads.

The work of laying the latest roadway slabs on the 12th and 13th pillars of the bridge was completed at 10:12 am on Monday (August 23). The road was completed in 6.15 km bridge.

Executive engineer of the Padma Bridge said, only three of the 2,917 roadway slabs on the bridge remained to be installed. In which two slabs were placed last night. And one this morning. Through this, the work of Padma bridge went one step further. Besides, the work of installing gas line through the middle of Padma bridge has started. At the same time, the work of the railway line is also coming to an end.

He said the entire work would be completed before June next year. For this, everyone working in this project is working day and night at the same time.

Meanwhile, Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader came to the Padma Bridge project area and announced that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would inaugurate the bridge any day in June 2022. Domestic and foreign workers working on the bridge project are working towards that goal. So far, 94.50 percent of the work on the main bridge has been completed.

The last of the 2,917 roadway slabs of the bridge was completed this morning. Earlier, the work of laying the railway slab of the two-storey bridge was completed on June 20 this year.

According to the engineers of the bridge project, the overall work of the bridge project has progressed by 87.25 percent till July this year. The progress of the work of the main bridge is 94.25 percent. That means only 5.75 percent of the work on the main bridge.

According to the people involved in the project, the backing work will start at the end of next October. This work may take up to three months. The bridge contractor China Major Bridge Engineering Company (MBEC) has informed the bridge department that they will complete the work by April 30.

All in all, it is possible to open the Padma Bridge to traffic in May. However, the bridge department said, the date will be fixed after discussions with the last Prime Minister Hasina.
