Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmad today visited the site designated for setting up an RT-PCR laboratory at the car parking yard of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the city.
The lab will be set up to facilitate the workers intending to go abroad with overseas jobs with the COVID-19 test facility, said a press release.
Secretary of the Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry Dr. Ahmed Munirus Saleheen accompanied the minister during the visit.
Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman and Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) Director-General Md Shahidul Alam were present on occasion.
According to the release, the CAAB chairman assured the minister that COVID-19 samples would start at the RT-PCR lab soon as the lab setup is expected to be completed by the next three to four days.
Later, they monitored the activities of the Expatriates’ Welfare Desk and visited the Mujib Corner at the HSIA.
