The Pfizer vaccine is currently considered to be the most effective of the corona vaccines in the market. The US pharmaceutical company has announced that it will soon launch oral drugs for this deadly disease.
But Pfizer is not alone in this race. US pharmaceutical company Merck & Co. (MRK.N) and Swiss pharmaceutical company Roche Holding AG (ROG.S) have already made their position clear as Pfizer’s rivals.
Both companies say they have come a long way in researching the discovery of the corona drug (oral antiviral pill).
An official associated with Pfizer’s project told Reuters that the company had already developed a drug and was currently named PF-08321332.
The official said the drug was being tested on 2,060 volunteers. All of these volunteers are 18 years of age or older.
At present, the trial is going through a medium phase, the official said.
Meanwhile, Pfizer’s main rival in the case, another US company Merck and its business partner Rizbak, said they had already developed a drug called Molnupiravir and were testing the drug’s effectiveness on several volunteers.
Merck & Co. also said that the two companies had started final trials in this regard.
