IGP directed to ensure maximum security during Durga Puja

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has instructed police officers to ensure maximum security at Durga Puja Dr. Benazir Ahmed.

He also instructed the police officials to be vigilant so that no person or group could spread any rumor on social media centering on Durga Puja.

The IGP gave these instructions while addressing a meeting on law and order and security of Durga Puja at the Hall of Pride of the Police Headquarters on Wednesday (October 6) afternoon. All the Metropolitan Commissioners of Police, Range DIGs, and District Police Superintendents attended the meeting.

The IGP said security should be ensured through communication and coordination with the leaders of the puja celebration committee locally.

He called upon the leaders of the celebration committee to show due respect to the religious sentiments of the followers of other religions during the puja.

The IGP said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the economic prosperity of all is being achieved equally in the country. Communal harmony has increased among people of different religions. As a result, the number of puja mandals is rising every year.

The leaders of the puja celebration council who participated in the meeting expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements taken by the police and thanked the IGP. The monitoring cell will work at the police headquarters and other units to monitor law and order in the puja.

Additional IG of Police Headquarters attended the meeting, heads of various units of DMP, representatives of various intelligence agencies, leaders of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad and Dhaka Metropolitan Public Puja Committee, representatives of Ramkrishna Mission, and other organizations.

This year, Durga Puja is starting from October 11 in 31,137 puja mandals in the country. The puja will end on October 15 with the immersion.
