Commemorative letter of heroic freedom fighter Shamsul Haque Tuku-Professor Lutfunnesa Foundation for the development of child nutrition

Pabna district’s heroic freedom fighter Shamsul Haque Tuku-Professor Lutfunnesa Foundation on Wednesday handed over a memorandum to various government agencies to develop child nutrition by providing cow’s milk and eggs to students in primary schools across the country under the ‘Mid Day Meal’ project.

Advocate Asif Shams Ranjan, president of the foundation and honorary member of the central executive parliament of Bangladesh Awami Juba League, said in an interview to GMT News24 that milk and eggs are the best food of all food in the world. The superiority of milk and eggs is for the highest nutritional value. The essential ingredient in milk is lactose, which helps in body building, development and intellectual growth. Eggs, on the other hand, contain high quality protein and vitamins. Milk and eggs are the main ingredients in maintaining human health. A large section of the people of Bangladesh are deprived of drinking liquid milk. We have put milk on the list of luxury foods. The reality is that it is a very readily available nutritious food. With the aim of increasing this awareness, our organization last July 2019 AD. Has been distributing free cow’s milk to various orphanages on a regular basis which is still going on.

In this regard, the President of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs Shamsul Haque Tuku told GMT News24 in his office that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation who declared independence, wanted to educate the people of this country in the highest possible way. But the country and the nation are twenty years behind due to the brutal massacre of 1975. But after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the worthy daughter of the Father of the Nation, took over the responsibility of the country, all the dreams of the Father of the Nation are being realized. Continuing that trend, the government launched the Mid Day Meal project in primary schools. The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has undertaken a project worth Tk 16,290 crore to provide nutritious food to primary school students.

Shamsul Haque Tuku said the provision of cow’s milk and eggs in the ‘Mid Day Meal’ project among the students in the primary schools would play a huge role in the nutrition of the children on the one hand and cattle and poultry farms on the other hand. It will play a huge role in eliminating unemployment. By 2030, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs will play an effective role in contributing to the education, nutrition, health and social security of all primary school students by bringing them under the School Mill program in phases.

He said the present government has launched a mid-day meal program to ensure that all children eligible for schooling go to school, ensure the quality of primary education and prevent dropouts.

Heroic freedom fighter Shamsul Haque Tuku-Professor Lutfunnesa Foundation Secretary. Amirul Islam Sanu said, “In the past years, we have piloted a project in Santhia Bera area of Pabna-1 from the own funds of heroic freedom fighter Shamsul Haque Tuku-Professor Lutfunnesa Foundation among orphans in Hafizia Madrasa and Orphanage.
