Shots fired at a university in the US, casualties 8

One person has been killed in a shooting near the campus of a university in the US state of Georgia. Seven more people were injured in the incident. The incident happened near the Fort Valley State University campus in the state on Saturday (October 23) night. Russian media outlet Sputnik reported this information on Sunday (October 24), citing local authorities.

The shooting happened near a university campus in Fort Valley, Georgia, police said. A total of eight people were shot there. One of them was killed. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is investigating the incident.

The GBI said the man killed in the shootings was not a student at Fort Valley State University. Besides, the condition of 6 injured people is stable. Investigators have sought help in identifying those involved in the attack. No accused have been arrested so far.

Sputnik says the university campus was locked down for security reasons after the shootings. Later, however, it was opened. Students are now able to enter and exit campus.
