The ‘World Peace Conference’ started in Dhaka today

The two-day ‘World Peace Conference 2021‘ is starting today in Dhaka to celebrate the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence. Saturday (December 4), President Abdul Hamid will inaugurate the conference at Hotel Intercontinental.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the conference will be attended by poets, writers, Nobel laureates, academics, scientists, artists, journalists, cultural figures, politicians, human rights activists, and intellectuals worldwide working for peace. Representatives of 50 countries of the world will participate in it, and 60 of them will come in person, and the remaining 40 delegates will take part in the virtual.

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen on Wednesday (December 1) at a press conference on the World Peace Conference said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a ‘World Peace Conference’ in Dhaka on December 4 and 5 as part of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the golden jubilee of independence. The President and the prime minister’s virtual presence at the opening ceremony on December 4 and the closing ceremony on December 5, respectively, will multiply the importance of the conference.

It was informed at the press conference that the conference would discuss the issues fixed in four panels. During the two-day discussion, important issues related to peace will be discussed in light of Bangabandhu’s peace philosophy.

Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, former Prime Minister of Singapore Goh Chuck Tong, former Prime Minister of East Timor Jose Ramos-Harta, former Foreign Minister of Bulgaria Irina Bokova, Chairman of the World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation Dr. Syed Hamid Albar, Rector of the University of Peace, Francisco Rojas Aravena and many others will participate.

Dr.Momen at the press conference said the Dhaka Peace Declaration would be made at the meeting to spread the message of peace in the world. The conference will conclude on Sunday (December 5) with a unanimous declaration titled ‘Dhaka Peace Declaration.’
