Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni has been dubbed as ‘Che Guevara’ by the youth of Bangladesh by his youngest son and the mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), Barrister Sheikh Fazle Nur Taposh.
He made the remarks while addressing a memorial meeting and prayer mahfil for the 63rd birth anniversary of Sheikh Fazlul Haque Monir, the founding chairman of Juba League and one of the organizers of the liberation war, at Nagar Bhaban premises on Saturday (December 4).
Tapas said that Sheikh Moni had organized the young generation under the direction of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by holding that poem of poet Sukant in his chest. If we compare in the current political context, Che Guevara nurtured the consciousness of young people worldwide and the spirit of revolution. Similarly, Sheikh Guevara of Bangladesh is Sheikh Moni.
Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif was the chief guest on occasion. Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League President Bir Muktijoddha Abu Ahmed Monnafi and General Secretary Md. Humayun Kabir, Chief Executive Officer of Dhaka South City Corporation Farid Ahmed, Senior Vice President of Metropolitan South Awami League MP Nurul Amin Ruhul, and others.
