Boat ride in Narail’s Chachuri

Village Bengal’s traditional boat race was held in Chachuri Line canal of Kalia Upazila of Narail.

On Saturday (September 16) afternoon, 12 small and big boats participated in the boat race organized by the Chachuri Youth Association.

Thousands of people gather on both banks to watch the boat race which starts from 4 pm.

At this time, a festive atmosphere was created by the applause of thousands of spectators on both sides, who were excited by the sound of the waves, the heiyore heiyo and the clatter of the rowed seats. Locals came to watch the boating despite the hot sun. At this time, they expressed the hope of organizing such a festival every year.

The boat of Nitai Tarafdar of Dhariaghata village won the first place in the boat race, while the boat of Nabir Gazi of Chachari village won the second place. All participants are awarded including 3rd place in the competition.

A 32-inch television was awarded to the first winner and a 24-inch television was given to the second winner by former Joint Secretary of Disaster Management and Relief Ministry Nischint Kumar Poddar, former Mayor of Kalia Municipality Mushfiqru Rahman Liton, convener of Kalia Upazila Jubo League Rabiul Islam, joint convener Ashish Bhattacharya.

Abzal Hossain of Krishnapur village who came to see the boat race with his wife and children told Banglanews that the traditional village-Bangla events are no longer held in the neighboring villages. Nice to see boating going on in this area. I have brought the boys to introduce them.

Organizers Taurut Molya, Osikar Rahman and Imrul Sheikh told BanglaNews that our 18th boat race was held today. There is a desire to organize more in the future.
