Earthquake in Papua New Guinea

A magnitude 5.9 earthquake has shaken eastern Papua New Guinea. The quake struck on Sunday. The US Geological Survey said.

The epicenter was reported 19 kilometers south of Solomon Sea, 200 kilometers off the coast of New Britain Island.

No casualties were immediately reported. No tsunami alert was issued.
