Second dose of vaccine for school children can be completed in January: DH

Starting yesterday is the first dose of vaccination for school and college-going students. The second dose of vaccination has already started for these students. The second dose of vaccination for most of the students can be completed by January, said the line director of the Department of Health, Md. Shamsul Haque.

He said this in response to a question after visiting the vaccination centre of Dhanmondi Scholars School and College in the capital on Saturday morning.

Asked whether it was possible to complete the second dose of vaccination for school and college-going students by January 31, Shamsul Haque said, “The second dose of vaccination has already started for these students.” Students who receive the first dose of the vaccine by December 31 will receive the second dose by January 31. But today, for those who have taken the first dose on January 15, it is not possible to give the second dose on January 31. In this case, it will take extra time for them. We have enough vaccines, so it is possible to get vaccinated on time. It is not a difficult thing. ‘

To date, more than 2,300 school and college students have been vaccinated at the Scholars School and College Vaccination Center. Students have been seen coming to the centre with their parents since Saturday morning to get vaccinated. However, many students and parents are reluctant to follow the hygiene rules at the centre. Many were walking around with masks on their chins and hands outside the centre.
