Agriculture Minister Dr. M Abdur Razzak yesterday called for spreading newly invented technologies in the field through crush program or time bound specific action plan.
“We need to spread the newly invented technologies in the fields to increase cultivation,” he said.
Razzak, also the Presidium Member of the Awami League, said this as the chief guest at a workshop on verification of technologies developed under the BATC-NATP project at the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) auditorium here, said a press release.
“Recently many improved varieties and technologies of different crops including paddy have been invented, so now it is possible to plant mustard in the middle of Aman and Boro seasons, it is an additional crop and new cropping pattern,” he said.
“Salt tolerant rice varieties have been developed, there are about two million hectares of saline land on the coast…It is possible to cultivate saline tolerant paddy twice a year,” he added.
Additional Secretary of the minister M Ruhul Amin Talukder and Chairman of BARC Sheikh Mohammad Bakhtiyar spoke the workshop.
A total of 41 technologies were selected under the NATP project under BARC.
