Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader addressed a function at Dhaka University Student-Teacher Center (TSC) auditorium. Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader feels that although foreigners praise Bangladesh’s development achievements, it is not happening properly in the country. He blamed some politicians and the media for this. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said this while participating in a program at Dhaka University Student-Teacher Center (TSC) auditorium on Sunday. On the occasion of the 103rd birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day, the Dhaka University Branch Chhatra League organized this event titled discussion meeting, prize distribution, and book distribution. Obaidul Quader said in the speech of the chief guest at the event, every day when you open the pages of some newspapers, anti-government criticism. Attacks the government in vile language. Bloomberg says that Sheikh Hasina can become the prime minister for the fourth time. Influential news channels like Bloomberg are praising Sheikh Hasina today and Bangladesh’s elite politicians and media are attacking her every day. The general secretary of Awami League said, “Recently, a bill came in the House of Representatives of the United States praising the development activities of Sheikh Hasina’s government. There, a Republican praised Sheikh Hasina. US Assistant Secretary of State said Sheikh Hasina’s Bangladesh is a model for the world today. Bangladesh’s development, Bangladesh’s achievements. Why are some of our people here so small? Foreigners praise, but our country does not know how to praise, does not know how to thank, and does not know how to give congratulation. Knows only to criticize in an unspoken language. In this context, Obaidul Quader also talked about the arrest of Prothom Alo’s reporter Shamsuzzaman in the Digital Security Act case. He said, “Some say, mistakes are not crimes.” But can the crime be avoided as a mere mistake? Crime, heinous crime. The crime is not child abuse, but child exploitation. Various countries and international organizations have expressed their concern about the arrest of Shamsuzzaman and the prosecution of Prothom Alo editor Matiur Rahman in a case under the Digital Security Act. Observing that this was done to intimidate journalists and restrict freedom of expression, they demanded the immediate release of journalist Shamsuzzaman and the withdrawal of the Digital Security Act case filed against him and the editor of Prothom Alo. What would happen if such child exploitation happened in a democratic country? The media license was canceled. In this context, Obaidul Quader also said, “Sheikh Hasina endured many things, and waited patiently. He works cold, not hot. You bribed the child with 10 rupees and then said such words, it is wrong. Has anyone apologized for the mistake? Has anyone apologized? This is their arrogance. They are right! They are supporting their statements by being proud that Reporters Without Borders stated that the government arrested a newspaper reporter for intimidating journalists, and sued the editor and the reporter. The case was not done by the government, the case was done privately. The General Secretary of Awami League also said, ‘It is a scene. Should Any Sin Go Unpunished? What will happen like this? Reporters Without Borders, what would they do if something like this happened in their country? It was not judged? It would not be punished? How a child was blackmailed! It was said, what to do with freedom. They should be punished for the heinous crime they have committed by using a child next to the National Memorial to quote a day laborer on Independence Day. Note that the child had a different statement in the report published on Independence Day. Daily laborer Zakir Hossain’s speech was also there. Based on that report, a graphic card was made and posted on Facebook. There the speech of day laborer Zakir is given in the form of a quotation. But the picture used was of the child. The graphics card was recalled shortly after the issue was noticed. Later the report was also republished with amendments. Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said, “We fought for the freedom of journalists and media. Those who have killed many journalists, shed tears today and cry for the freedom of journalists. They are responsible for killing many journalists in the country. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has done everything for the welfare of journalists, including the Eighth Wage Board of Newspapers. We also believe in the freedom of the press. We do not want to undermine this freedom. But the journalist must also be a responsible journalist. Is someone’s quote against independence the smallest sign of love for the country expressed on Independence Day? It amounts to insulting the country. That’s what they did. Regarding BNP Acting Chairman Tarek Rahman, Obaidul Quader said that the convicted fugitive (Tareq Rahman) has a court order. There is a ban on publishing his speech online. The convicted fugitive accused is constantly meeting. There is no legal barrier here. Everyone is like a silent spectator. He raised the question and said, “You can hear the flood of praise of Ziaputra today.
