Italy will take skilled workers from Bangladesh

Italy has agreed to take skilled workers from Bangladesh especially in construction, shipbuilding and hospitality sectors under bilateral migration.

This was discussed in a political consultation meeting between Bangladesh and Italy in Rome on Wednesday (June 7).

The first political consultation between Bangladesh and Italy was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Rome.

Foreign Secretary Masoud Bin Momen and Secretary General of Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Riccardo Guariglia led their respective sides in the consultation.
Before the political consultation meeting, Foreign Secretary Momen and Secretary General Guariglia signed a memorandum of understanding on political consultation between the foreign ministries of Bangladesh and Italy.

During the meeting, both countries expressed interest in deepening ties and engaging more in multiple areas including trade and investment, technological intervention in Bangladesh’s textile sector, defense and security, ICT, agriculture, migration and mobility, etc.

During the meeting, Italy praised Bangladesh for providing shelter to the Rohingyas and assured them of continued humanitarian assistance and assistance in their safe repatriation to Myanmar.
