Educational institutions have opened with ‘dengue panic’

The country’s primary, secondary and higher secondary level educational institutions are opening from Sunday (09 July) after the holy Eid-ul-Azha holiday amid the fear of dengue, a disease carried by the Aedes mosquito. The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (MAUSI) and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education have given instructions to prevent the spread of mosquitoes in educational institutions.

However, there is fear among students-parents-teachers about the spread of common mosquitoes including Aedes in educational institutions which have been closed for two weeks.

Maushi Instructions:

As a preventive measure to prevent the spread of dengue, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education has informed in a directive that recently there has been an outbreak of dengue in Dhaka city and different parts of the country. Many people have been and are being affected by it. According to experts, it is possible to get rid of this disease if you take precautions. Dengue is a disease carried by the Aedes mosquito.Places where water accumulates in the playgrounds and buildings of educational institutions, water in flower pots are perfect breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes.

To prevent the spread of dengue, every educational institution in the country has been instructed to take measures after opening after the holy Eid-ul-Azhar holiday.

1. Playgrounds and buildings should be kept clean regularly.

2. Water accumulated in the field or building should be removed quickly.
3. Flower tubs kept in educational institutions for beautification should be kept clean regularly.

4. It should be ensured that water does not accumulate in the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes.

5. All students should be informed about Dengue prevention measures by concerned authorities/teachers.

Instructions of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education:

It is said in the instructions related to keeping the public primary schools and other facilities clean and tidy, the Minister of Local Government on June 22 to review the activities of the City Corporation and other ministries-divisions and departments-organizations to prevent mosquito-borne diseases. The second inter-ministerial meeting was held under the chairmanship of Tajul Islam.

In the meeting, the minister directed that all the ministries and departments voluntarily clean the institutions under their subordinate agencies before the Eid-ul-Azhar holiday and before the opening of the offices and schools after the holiday in order to prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases, especially the Aedes mosquito. .
