Chittagong book fair is crowded on the first day

Amar Ekushey Book Fair is crowded on the first day at the scenic CRB, the lung of the city. Since it was a holiday, people of various ages started coming from the afternoon.

One group performance after another was going on at the book fair stage. Although some stalls were still under construction.

Chasik Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury formally inaugurated the book fair by flying balloons and pigeons on Friday (February 9) evening.

Organized by Chasik, this book fair is being held with the cooperation of Chittagong Creative Publishers Council, Chittagong Citizens Society, Bir Muktijoddha, Writers, Journalists, Educationists and Literary-Cultural Organizations. 43 thousand square feet will have 155 stalls of 92 publishing houses in Dhaka and Chittagong. Among them, 78 double stalls, 77 single stalls. This year’s book fair budget is 50 lakh taka. This time too Ekushe Sammanna Smarak Padak and Sahitya Award will be given for meritorious contribution to national life.

There are stalls of various publishing houses including Gyanakosh, Kingbadanti, Prothama, Dwimat, Salfi, University Press Limited, Myzbhandari Publications, Alokdhara Books, Lal Sabuj, etc.
