Dengue: 21 dead, 2,352 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 21 dengue patients died while 2,352 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 2), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 982 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,370 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 618 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 3,903 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 4,729 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 27,694 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 59,592 were in Dhaka and 68,102 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 18,444 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 55,233 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 63,211 others left hospitals outside the capital.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
