Dengue: 16 dead, 2,608 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 16 dengue patients died while 2,608 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 3), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 892 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,716 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 634 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 3,928 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 4,917 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 30,303 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 60,484 were in Dhaka and 69,818 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 20,823 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 56,092 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 64,713 others left hospitals outside the capital.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
