Azra Zeya, Undersecretary for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights of the US Department of State, said that the United States supports Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s call to the people for free, fair and peaceful elections.
He said this during a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the sidelines of the United Nations General Session in New York.
This information was informed in a statement of the US Embassy in Dhaka on Friday (September 22). In the meeting, they discussed the importance of free and fair elections.
The statement added that the United States is committed to promoting free and fair elections and democracy around the world. As a friend, the United States supports Sheikh Hasina’s call to the people of Bangladesh for free and fair elections in a peaceful environment.
Under Secretary Azra Jaya thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for Bangladesh’s generosity in providing humanitarian assistance to nearly 1 million Rohingya refugees.
