Tourism Fair and Beach Carnival are going on in Cox’s Bazar. This week-long event includes three consecutive days off.
All in all, tourists have increased in Cox’s Bazar.
Friday (September 29) was the third day of the event. Tourists flocked to Cox’s Bazar on this day. No rooms are available till Saturday in hotels, motels and guesthouses.
On the occasion of World Tourism Day, Cox’s Bazar district administration has organized tourism fair and beach carnival. Bashundhara Group, the country’s top industrial group, is the main sponsor of this event.
To welcome tourists at the beginning of the season, the district administration has announced a maximum discount of up to 60 percent in at least 15 areas including accommodation, travel and entertainment during the fair.
Tourist ships launched on Teknaf-Saint Martin route. Cox’s Bazar city is colorfully decorated around the fair.
Tourism officials say that lakhs of tourists will gather in Cox’s Bazar during these three days of the event.
On the surface, it was seen that the area of three kilometers of the seashore was covered with debris. Lavani Point is decorated with colorful decorations. A huge stage has been built for fairs and beach carnivals at the entrance to the beach.
Rows of stalls on both sides of the road in front of the stage. There is an opportunity to roam around the fair and watch cultural programs from morning till late night. Tourists are visiting these places.
At least 50,000 tourists have descended on Labani, Sugandha and Kalatali points on Friday morning, said Belal Hossain, a beach worker in the district administration.
He said, there is no room. Tourists bathe in the blue water and enjoy themselves.
Mukim Khan, General Secretary of Kalatali Hotel-Motel Owners Association, said that lakhs of tourists have gathered. All the hotel rooms are booked.
Abul Kasem Sikder, President of Cox’s Bazar Hotel-Motel-Guesthouse Owners Association, said that all the rooms of more than five hundred hotels-motels, resort-guesthouses in the city have been rented till Saturday. Those who have rented rooms in advance have got discount.
Superintendent of Police of Tourist Police Cox’s Bazar Zone Zillur Rahman said, the entire beach has been brought under the coverage of CC cameras. All measures have been taken to ensure overall safety and service to the tourists.
He also said that the tourist police and law enforcement forces are alert to handle the crowd of tourists and visitors around the week-long tourism fair and beach carnival.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Shaheen Imran said, tourism fair and beach carnival have been organized at the beginning of the season to highlight Cox’s Bazar, the main tourist center of the country, to local and foreign tourists.
