It’s not a war, a devastation: Erdogan

For the past few days, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey has called on Israel to halt the ongoing blockade and ceaseless destruction in Gaza. He stated that there is a moral aspect even in conflicts, and this destruction is in opposition to the morality of war. Yesterday, during a meeting with members of the party in parliament, Erdoğan conveyed this call to Israel. He emphasized that every war has policies and ethics, and what is happening in Gaza is a gross violation of morality.

Erdoğan further stated, “Cutting off electricity and water connections in blockaded Gaza, and bombing civilian establishments in Israel, is a disgraceful tactic of war that hinders fulfilling the basic needs of people and targets innocent civilians.”

He criticized both the killing of innocent civilians in Israeli territories and the relentless bombings in Gaza as unacceptable. The recent escalation of violence between Israel and the Palestinian organization Hamas saw a surge in casualties last Saturday. On that day, Hamas launched rocket attacks into Israeli territory, sending around 5,000 rockets in just 20 minutes, showcasing their power. Israel, in response, has its fortified security shelters.

Not stopping there, Hamas fighters breached into Israeli territory, initially causing panic but met with swift retaliation from Israel. Israel launched an offensive into Gaza. Since then, Palestine has been suffering from relentless bombings. Israeli airstrikes have brought down numerous buildings in Gaza. The crisis has led to severe food shortages. Many places are without electricity, and Gazans are struggling with a shortage of clean water.

According to a statement from the Israeli Defense Forces, over 200 airstrikes have been carried out in more than 200 locations in Gaza. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that the number of casualties due to Israeli airstrikes has exceeded a thousand. On the other side, the number of Israeli casualties from Hamas attacks has risen to 1,200.
