In Lebanon, a journalist lost his life in Israel’s missile attack. Several other journalists were also injured in this incident. The event took place yesterday, Friday, in the Al-Ma’ala area of southern Lebanon.
The deceased journalist was named Isam Abdallah. He was a videographer for the news agency Reuters. He tragically lost his life in the missile attack while on duty.
Reacting to this incident, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict has created a deadly risk spreading even to Lebanon.
Among the injured journalists are two from Al-Jazeera. They are correspondent Karmen Joakhadar and photographer Eli Brakhiya.
Al-Jazeera expressed strong condemnation of the incident in a statement.
The Hamas, a pro-Palestinian independence organization, launched an attack on Israel on October 7. In response, Israel initiated a counterattack on the same day.
As a result of the Hamas attack, the number of casualties in Israel has risen to 1,300. The Gaza Health Ministry reported that in the unrelenting Israeli attack on Gaza, at least 900 Palestinians have lost their lives. A total of 6,388 people have been injured.
According to the United Nations, due to the Israeli attack, a new wave of displacement has occurred in Gaza, affecting 338,000 Palestinians.
