In the South American country Ecuador, Daniel Noboa has been elected as the president. At 35 years old, Noboa is the youngest president in the history of the country.
Last Sunday, the second round of voting took place in Ecuador. After counting 90 percent of the votes, the election commission declared Noboa the winner yesterday, Monday.
In August, the first round of voting for the presidential election took place in Ecuador. According to the rules, no candidate was able to secure 50 percent of the votes individually. Therefore, the two leading candidates, Luisa Magdalena González and Daniel Noboa competed in the subsequent round of voting.
In the capital city, Quito, González conceded defeat in her speech to supporters.
