Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the second phase of the metro rail service today, Saturday, from Agargaon to Motijheel.
According to M.A.N. Siddique, the Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Agargaon to Motijheel segment starting from the Agargaon station around 2:30 PM. Afterward, she will take a ride on the metro rail to reach Motijheel for another inaugural event.
M.A.N. Siddique also stated that the Prime Minister will inaugurate the construction work of MRT Line-5 (North Route). This line will extend for 20 kilometers from Hemayetpur to Gabtoli, Mirpur-10, and Gulshan, with a total project cost of BDT 41,239 crores. The construction work is expected to be completed by 2028. Due to the inaugural ceremony, regular metro rail services from Uttara to Agargaon will be temporarily suspended today.
Previously, on December 28, the Prime Minister inaugurated the first phase of the metro rail from Uttara to Agargaon.
