In Ruston, Louisiana, in the southern region of the United States, four women were injured in a stabbing incident on Monday (November 13) on the campus of Louisiana Tech University. University officials and local police believe that a male student carried out the attack.
In a statement released by the university, it is described as an immediate act of violence. An investigation is underway.
Mayor Ronnie Walker of Ruston stated that three of the four victims are seriously injured, and they have been taken to a hospital in Shreveport for their treatment.
According to a statement from the university, campus police apprehended a suspect within a few minutes of the stabbing incident. Ruston Police Chief Steve Rogers mentioned that after initial medical treatment, the suspect was sent to jail on Monday evening.
Walker stated that among the four victims of the stabbing, one is an undergraduate student who was initially taken to Shreveport Hospital for primary care. The other three injured individuals were not students. Two of them were initially admitted to the hospital in Ruston and later transferred to Shreveport.
Walker told reporters, “The current situation is stable.”
The stabbing incident occurred shortly after 9 a.m. at the Lambright Sports and Wellness Center on the campus of Louisiana Tech University.
