Dhaka: Since November 1, the two Antyodaya trains, Sundarbans and Chitra Express have been running on the Padma Bridge. From December 1, the first commuter train, ‘Nakshikatha Express,’ will operate across the bridge, according to an announcement signed by Assistant Operating Superintendent Abdul Awal on behalf of the General Manager (West) of Bangladesh Railway on November 15.
This commuter train will run from Khulna to Dhaka via the Padma Bridge. Previously, it operated as a mail train on the Khulna to Goalanda route. Now, it will extend its route to Khulna-Dhaka and change its classification from a mail train to a commuter train.
The journey will cover stations such as Daulatpur, Nowapara, Jessore, Mobarakganj, Kotchandpur, Sayedpur, Ansarbaria, Uthli Darshana Halt, Chuadanga, Mundigang, Alamdanga, Halsa, Poradaha Junction, Kushtia Court, Kushtia, Kumarkhali, Khoksha, Machpara, Pangsha, Kalukhali, Belghachi, Rajbari, Khankhanapur, Amirabad, Faridpur, Babua, Talmahal, Pukhuria, Bhanga, Bhanga Junction, Shibchar, Padma, Mawa, Shreenagar, Nimtali, and Gendaria before stopping at Dhaka (Kamalapur) Railway Station.
Due to the lack of boarding and deboarding facilities for passengers at Bonga Junction, it will not be a stop for the train.
Currently, passengers may disembark at Jessore Cantonment, Mominpur, Joyrampur, Jopati, Choraikola, and Suryanagar stations.
