Not Ronaldo or Rooney, Garnacho is Garnacho

The goal scored by Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho against Everton is being compared to Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney’s goals. However, in one aspect, almost everyone agrees that it’s the best goal of the season so far.

After Manchester United’s 3-0 victory over Everton on Sunday night, coach Erik ten Hag commented on Garnacho’s goal, saying, “Don’t make comparisons. This is not right. Each of them has their own identity. Garnacho has a long way to go to reach the level of the other two. A lot of effort is needed.”

Ten Hag also mentioned what Garnacho needs to do to reach the level of Ronaldo or Rooney, saying, “Such performances need to be consistent, which is not happening at the moment. However, there is a good chance that Garnacho can do something great. We haven’t seen this kind of performance before from him. But if he wants to be like Rooney or Ronaldo, he has to score 20-25 goals in the Premier League every season. It’s not easy, but it’s possible.”

Regarding Garnacho’s goal at Goodison Park, Ten Hag stated, “It was a fantastic goal. Since there are many matches left in the season, we might see more goals like this. However, so far, this is probably the goal of the season. The build-up to the goal was amazing. But the finishing was unbelievable.”

Manchester United currently sits sixth with 24 points from 13 matches, having won 8 out of 13 matches. Newcastle is seventh with 23 points from an equal number of matches. Arsenal leads the table with 30 points from 13 matches, followed by Manchester City with 29 points. Liverpool and Aston Villa are tied at 28 points, occupying third and fourth place respectively. Tottenham holds fifth place with 26 points.
