In the construction site of the under-construction tunnel in Sudrang, Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, India, efforts to rescue trapped workers have encountered various obstacles and challenges. As a result, organizations involved in the rescue operation are now considering new plans and techniques.
In the past 16 days, government organizations in India have repeatedly had to alter their rescue strategies based on the evolving situation. Simultaneously, significant attention is being given to maintaining the mental and physical well-being of the workers trapped in the tunnel. Communication is being maintained with them, and provisions of food, water, and oxygen are being delivered.
There are a total of six methods for the rescue of the trapped workers. All possible methods are being checked and verified. If one method fails, another will be utilized by the rescue teams.
On Friday, the auger drill machine brought from the United States became dysfunctional and broke within the stones inside the tunnel. Following this, a plasma cutter was brought from Hyderabad. Through this machine, sections of the trapped area within the auger drill were identified and extracted yesterday morning (Monday). Subsequently, according to the new plan, manual drilling or kayak labor has been employed starting from yesterday. This information is reported by NDTV.
