In Pakistan, the police are investigating the murder of an 18-year-old youth. According to the police, the family members have allegedly committed the murder in the name of ‘honoring the family’s dignity’ (honour killing). This investigation is related to an incident in the Kohistan region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The police suspect that the youth was murdered by his father and uncles last week. Local tribal councils (jirgas) have played a role in bringing this incident to light, as per their directions.
The identity of the murdered youth has not been disclosed. The police have arrested the father and are searching for the uncles. According to a report by Geo News, the police have conducted a search at the deceased youth’s residence. Individuals who may have information about the alleged perpetrators of the murder are also being sought.
The police have revealed that the person seen in a circulated photo on social media with the deceased youth is also under police protection. This is because the elders of the tribal council had demanded his punishment as well.
The investigation is ongoing, and the police are actively pursuing leads related to the case.
