Arsenal in the last sixteen in a historic win

Arsenal 6:0 LASK

Arsenal needed a draw or win to ensure a spot in the next round after losing at LASK’s ground in the first leg. However, their performance at the Emirates Stadium against LASK was exceptional. In Champions League history, Arsenal became the first team to score five goals in the first half of a match for an English club.

Arsenal didn’t stop at five goals, scoring another in the second half to secure a 6-0 victory. This win confirmed their spot as the top team in Group B with 12 points from 5 matches, ahead of PSV (8 points) and LASK (5 points).

The first goal for Arsenal came in the 13th minute when Kieran Tierney netted it. Within the next 13 minutes, Arsenal scored three more goals, with Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, and Takehiro Tomiyasu contributing. Odegaard added the fifth goal in the first half, taking Arsenal to a comfortable lead. In the 86th minute, Jorginho scored the sixth goal from a penalty.

Real Madrid 4:2 Napoli

Real Madrid-Napoli witnessed six goals, much like the Arsenal-LASK match. Real Madrid had already secured their spot in the next round from Group C with 12 points from 4 matches. Today, at Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid defeated Napoli 4-2. The goals for Real Madrid were scored by Rodrigo, Jude Bellingham, Nico, and Jocelyn. Napoli’s goals came from Giovanni Simeone and Zambo Anguissa. Despite this loss, Napoli still has a chance for qualification as the match between Union Berlin and Braga ended in a 1-1 draw. Napoli has 7 points in 5 matches, while Braga has 4 and Union Berlin has 2.

Benfica 3: Inter Milan

In Group D, Inter Milan had already secured their spot in the next round before their match against Benfica. In contrast, Benfica had lost all four matches. However, on their home ground, Benfica posed a significant challenge to Inter Milan. Former Inter midfielder Joao Mario scored a hat-trick in the 5th, 13th, and 34th minutes, giving Benfica a lead in the first half. In the second half, Italy’s club managed to score three goals through Vinicius, Frattesi, and Alex Sandro, resulting in a 3-3 draw.

The match between Real Sociedad and Salzburg ended in a goalless draw, confirming the elimination of both teams from the competition, with Inter and Benfica already having secured their spots.
