Paddy and Rice Collection Campaign Started in Srimangal

Moulvibazar: The paddy and rice procurement campaign for 2023-24 has been inaugurated in the Srimangal Upazila of Moulvibazar.

Under the slogan “In the warehouse, the farmer’s paddy will thrive, the farmer will live, getting higher rice prices, the farmer is now delighted,” the internal procurement campaign for paddy and rice for the fiscal year 2023-24 was launched.

On Sunday (December 10), Vhanulal Roy, the Chairman of Srimangal Upazila Parishad, and Chief Guest, inaugurated the paddy and rice procurement campaign in the presence of the Srimangal Upazila Administration and the Upazila Food Department.

Present at the time were Ardhendu Kumar Deb Bhibhul, the President of the Upazila Awami League, Food Officer Deepak Chandra Mondal, Teacher Johar Torpadar, Vice Chairman Mitali Datta, Food Warehouse’s responsible officer Abdus Samad, businessman Nazrul Islam, and the Head of Business Jakir Mia.

According to the sources of the food warehouse, the government will directly purchase 1440 metric tons of parboiled rice from farmers at a rate of Tk 44 per kilogram from November 23, 2023, to February 28, 2024. Additionally, 160 metric tons of Atap rice will be purchased at a rate of Tk 43 per kilogram, and 533 metric tons of paddy will be bought at Tk 30 per kilogram during this period.
