Biden is not going to India, uncertain quad conference!

On Democracy Day in 2024, it is reported that President Joe Biden will not be visiting India. According to a source from an Indian news outlet, there were earlier plans for the Quad summit to take place during the same period, but now it is claimed that Biden won’t be attending.

The G20 Summit held in New Delhi on September 8 featured a bilateral meeting between Modi and Biden. It was during this time that Prime Minister Modi extended an invitation to President Biden to visit India on Democracy Day, which is observed on January 27. The Quad summit, originally scheduled for January 27, included the participation of Japan and Australia along with India and the United States. However, Biden’s absence has posed a challenge, leading to uncertainties about the summit.

In September, the U.S. Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, had indicated that President Biden had received an invitation from Modi. However, the official stance of the U.S. administration on this matter has not been communicated. The postponement or cancellation of the Quad summit has raised concerns among other participating countries. While there has been no official announcement from New Delhi, sources suggest that the Quad summit might take place at a different time in the coming year.
