On Monday, at an event organized by the African Football Federation (CAF) in Morocco, Victor Osimhen was announced as Africa’s best footballer. Osimhen clinched the award ahead of PSG and Morocco’s right-back Achraf Hakimi, as well as Liverpool and Egypt winger Mohamed Salah.
Receiving the award for Africa’s best footballer, Osimhen said, “It’s like a dream come true. I thank Nigerians for their support. I thank Africa for recognizing me, for acknowledging my mistakes, encouraging me, and being by my side.”
Last season, Napoli won the league title after 33 years, and Osimhen played a significant role in their path to the trophy. He scored 26 goals and provided five assists for the team’s journey to winning the title.
On the other hand, Al-Hilal’s Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou received the award for Africa’s best goalkeeper. Morocco’s football team was named the best team, and Morocco’s coach Walid Regragui was awarded the best coach.
