Next year, in November, the United States will have its presidential election. Prior to that, former President Donald Trump faced a major setback in the Colorado Supreme Court. The regional Supreme Court had ruled that Trump, as a Republican candidate, cannot run in the primary election in that specific state. Following this decision, Trump moved to the Michigan Supreme Court. However, he achieved success on Wednesday. The court did not agree to hear the case, and the ruling of the lower court stands, stating that the matter is not within the jurisdiction of the court.
According to sources, despite this success for Trump, some opponents believe that even though he won the case, he has lost the eligibility to become president. The questions presented in court were considered insignificant by these critics after a review by the judiciary.
After this incident, Trump wrote on social media, “They tried very hard to remove me from the election, but couldn’t.”
On January 6, 2021, supporters of Trump launched an attack on the U.S. Capitol. The role Trump played in that incident was a key factor in the court’s decision. While the Colorado Supreme Court had ruled on his eligibility, stating that he does not have the qualification to run as a presidential candidate, the overall decision was that Trump lacks the eligibility to run for president. Trump is the first presidential candidate in American history declared unfit to enter the White House.
The primary election in Colorado is scheduled for March 5 next year, where Trump will have the opportunity to compete against other Republican leaders.
