Demand for ‘temporary’ closure of educational institutions in winter

The life of people across the country has been disrupted due to the ongoing cold wave. Especially the northern, northeastern and northwestern districts are shivering in winter.

Elderly people and children are overcome by it. School-going children and teenagers are getting sick while traveling to and from educational institutions in winter.

Parents feel that the closure of educational institutions is not suitable for students if the temperature drops below 10 degrees Celsius. Teachers and parents have demanded closure of educational institutions for at least seven days in winter.

In different areas of the capital, students are having trouble going to school during winter. This problem is more in rural areas. Because winters are more severe in villages than in Dhaka.

On Saturday (January 20), the Meteorological Office said that the cold wave will continue throughout January. During this time the temperature will rise. And the severity of winter will increase in the next few days.

Meteorologist Dr. Department of Meteorology. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallick said, a mild cold current is flowing over Rajshahi, Naogaon, Dinajpur, Moulvibazar and it may spread. As a result, day and night temperatures may drop slightly across the country.

At the beginning of the year, book distribution and admission programs are going on in educational institutions. There are no regular classes. Attendance of students is also low. And due to the cold weather, the attendance rate in educational institutions has further decreased.

A teacher of a school in Old Dhaka, who did not disclose his name, said that the attendance of students at school is very low at this time. Those who are coming due to hundred are also suffering.

Due to severe winter, the temperature has dropped below 10 degree Celsius in some districts of the country. Although instructions have been given to close educational institutions in those districts.
