The winners in the boat are my right hand, the independents are my left hand: Sheikh Hasina

Awami League President Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has commented on the boat symbol as the right hand of the winners and the left hand of individual parliamentarians in the 12th National Parliament election.

He said this in a meeting with independent parliamentarians at Ganobhaban on Sunday (January 28) night.

After the meeting, independent parliamentarians told reporters at the Ganobhaban gate.

Independent Member of Parliament elected from Faridpur AK Azad said, “We all wanted, but we did not get a boat from the party.” We are in different positions of the party, we are in different responsibilities. We are people of Awami League. Although independent, it is seen in many places, we are in the position of Awami League, and on one side independent. We are having trouble doing our work in the area. Therefore, since we are in the party, let us be united.

This leader of Awami League who was elected independently said, He (Prime Minister) said, you work as an independent. I will have no problem here. For this (winner in the boat) is my right hand, this (individually chosen) is my left hand. You are also mine, this is also mine. Those who won with the boat symbol are also mine. And those who are in the position of Awami League: are in charge of various positions, wanted a boat but did not get a boat, they are also mine. He doesn’t treat anyone differently.

Independently elected Member of Parliament from Dhaka-18 Constituency, Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League leader Md. Khosru Chowdhury said, his message was, my right hand is also mine, my left hand is also mine. Stay as you are. You will get more time in Parliament, more priority than those who are in my party.

Independent Member of Parliament Mohiuddin Maharaj said, we want to continue under the leadership of the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister said, you are people of Awami League, you are in Awami League. So we think that we are in the Awami League and we will play a role in the Parliament under the leadership of Bangabandhu’s Prime Minister.

The independent members of Parliament have assigned the responsibility of Awami League president Sheikh Hasina to nominate reserved women members of parliament.
